More than enough - Part 1

We as Christians, serve a great God! We serve El-Shaddai, the God of more than enough. Many times through scripture, we see that God wants to increase us to overflowing with His Spirit and with His unlimited blessings. This includes financial abundance... Proverbs 10:22 “The blessing of the Lord brings wealth, without painful toil for it”.

The Hebrew translation for the word wealth is “wealth, riches, substances”; “enough, sufficiency.” It means “to possess riches, to be in a position of ease.” So to have wealth and riches, is to have more than enough material possessions, “to be in a position of ease.”

Many of us get uncomfortable when we hear someone say that the blessing of God includes material blessing and financial breakthrough. But according to the International Standard Bible Encyclopaedia, “the possession of wealth is not regarded as sinful, but, on the contrary, was looked upon as a sign of blessing from God (Eccles. 5:19,6:2). So there is nothing to be uncomfortable about if you are wealthy and abide in Christ.

There are certain kinds of sins wealthy people can be vulnerable to, as was the case with the rich young ruler in Luke 18:22-23. Pride is the most common trap for people of considerable means (1 Tim. 6:17) but also “oppression of the poor (James 2:6); selfishness (Luke 2 and 16); dishonesty (Luke 19:1-10); self-conceit (Prov. 28:11); self-trust (Prov. 18:11). We can, however, use wealth and bring glory and honour to the name of the Lord. Now to be blessed you need to speak it and declare it, and God will bless. But that’s only part of it. The other part we will share with you in our next post.....
